oGANGORRA

São Paulo, 2013-2015

oGANGORRA was founded by me and three other dear friends: Evely, Aline and Pepo, in the very beginning of 2013. Being part of the Critical Mass bicycle movement in São Paulo since 2009 and having already organized several actions within the city related to the topic, when the time came to make it more official, we all took the leap.

The idea (and reality) of oGANGORRA was to be a physical hub in the form of a co-working space where we gathered freelancers, NGOs, small companies and projects that had “urban mobility” as a motto and we, the partners (or the mediation team as we prefer to say), would prospect relevant projects and bring it back to the house so we all could work on them.

I was taking care mostly of prospecting and project managing some projects, curating, organizing, managing and producing the cultural events branch of the company and organizing workshops, lectures and art exhibitions. (Check out the photos here to get a grasp of a few of the many projects we executed through oGANGORRA.)

It was a great time in my life and I dearly cherish all the memories that house gave us through our three golden years.

Three of the most important things I’ve learned with oGANGORRA are: 1) Always have an END time for meetings, 2) Be more aggressive with marketing and 3) We have to be very patience and clear when we earn money with political projects.

Shout out to Las Magrelas who shared the house with us for the first year. I really miss this group!

oGANGORRA and Aromeiazero crew at our urban mobility events: Pedala Sampa and the official inauguration of the City’s municipal bike parking spot, an event that received a large sum of public, including special guests like the at the time Mayor of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad from the Worker’s Party. In the latest, I produce the whole event from start to finish with Aromeiazero NGO.

Organization and mediation of the talk with illustrator, artist and activist Mona Caron, a present figure at the time in the California Critical Mass bicycle movement.

We organized several workshops and community gatherings at our hub. This one is a flower bouquet arrangement workshop, one of the cutest that I have ever organized.
