Hello, there! My name is Laura Sobenes Sono (pronouns she/her), my artist name is SóLaura and I am the founder of SóLaura Studio at Boddinstraße 62, Neukölln, Berlin. I am a queer intersectional feminist tattooer and multidisciplinary artist from são paulo (brasil), who is currently based in berlin (germany), and travels around whenever it’s possible. I graduated in Photography, and worked in many other fields until I started tattooing in 2014 (when my nesting partner gave me all the equipment as a surprise birthday gift!!!). It became my full time work in 2017. All forms of art were always in my surroundings. I like to explore different styles of drawing and tattooing by learning and practicing different techniques, and by spending time with studying the human anatomy. My tattoo practice is fully based on consent. Body modification practices (e.g. body suspension and scarification) are something I furthermore study and practice whenever I had/have a chance to do so. I am fascinated by the ways in which we can change the bodies we were born with. Tattoos to me are a way of self-expression, involving pain, the exchange of energy, and spiritual, physical, as well as mental work. This is why, I am trying my best to make the person(s) feel welcome, to build connection (if this is a shared intention), and to create a safeR space for both of us to be in. LGBTQIANP+, QTIBIPoC, and BIPoC, raise your hands! :-) Let us always remember and be grateful to our human ancestors who started tattooing thousands of years ago. Let’s always honor and respect their ancient history, culture, and experience.

Special thanks to my dear friends for their help to build this website. Please go check their artwork as well: Thaís Curvelo, Bruno Gola, Pedro Henrique Ishikawa, Belinda Kazeem, Jorge Kuriki, Luiza Poli.
