What’s inside

  • One day of theory: needles, machines, body anatomy, consent practices, tattoo industry and a brief history of tattooing throughout the millennia.

    One day of practice: biosafety, hygiene protocols and practice on fake skin: learn the safe practices of tattooing according to hygiene protocols, learn how to assemble your work station and make some exercises of line work and different types of shading on fake sin.

  • For this module, you will spend the whole day with me and a costumer. I will walk you through my process of tattoo consultation, drawing, placing and making the tattoo. This is a one hour tattoo design and you get to ask all the question along the way and practice the drawing part with me if you want.

  • In this Module, I will observe you tattooing from the beginning (placement) of the tattoo session until the end (aftercare recommendations, etc), give you my inputs and you can ask your questions. This needs to be a two hour maximum tattoo design.

  • A consultation session to help you chose the next steps: putting together a portfolio to join a tattoo shop or assembling your own private studio. Anything you need to make your tattoo career going. If we have time we go over a bit of social media as well.

  • When you do TATTIES workshops, you will enter our whatsapp group. There you can participate on the network, make friends and exchange with tattooers who are going through the same beginning journey. :-) You will have lifetime access to this group.

Meet Laura

Laura Sono has been a tattooer since 2014 and is also a multidisciplinary artist. She mostly worked from shared private studios until opening her own space, an art and tattoo shop named SóLauraStudio, in 2022. In 2024, she moved into a more collective setup and co-founded The Sweetspot with four other artists, where she currently works.

Laura began offering tattoo workshops in 2017 for beginners and curious artists, hosting them in both Berlin and Vienna. In 2023, she mentored five tattoo apprentices at her studio, one of whom is now a resident tattooer at The Sweetspot. :-)

After all the studio transitions and celebrating 10 years in tattooing in 2024, Laura decided to return to teaching, now with a new (and improved!) format: a four-part mentorship program.

  • No worries! I offer a 20 minute video chat so we can get to know each other and I can give some insight for your decision. Send me a message requesting the 20 minute video chat.

  • Sure! But if you want to attend Modules 2, 3 or 4 (in whichever order you prefer), you have to do Module 1 first. Then you can choose the other ones.

  • I am still not doing one full price for the 4 Modules as they are currently paid separated on demand, but if you are interested in doing all of them, send me a message and we will make a plan.

    In the future there will be a price for all of them.

  • All the Modules are in groups of maximum 5 people, but if you wish for a 1-1 mentorship, individually, just you and me, I will be happy to do so. Send me a message and I’ll reply with the conditions.

  • You need to have your tattoo machine to attend TATTIES, but if you don’t and still want to register, there is a possibility of renting one. Send me a message for more info.

  • No, you can come as fresh as the first autumn winds! ;-) Everyone needs to do Module 1 to be able to move on to the next ones, so you will learn the basics before.
    Module 1 is for the people who never tattooed before and for the beginners who are just starting.

  • The 4 Modules are for the people who are starting in their tattoo journeys.

    From the beginner tattooers who made a few tattoos already to the people who know absolutely nothing about, you are all welcome to TATTIES.

    Everyone needs to go through Module 1 to be able to move on to the next ones, so everyone will go over the basics first.

  • Tattooing is a profession that takes time to happen. You need to take your time to develop your skills and be ready for constant practice.

    Learning how to tattoo takes a long time (specially because part of the learning process is to see your tattoos healed throughout time and that takes… well, time).

    This mentorship is intended to help beginner tattooers to get more knowledge in the very first steps of their journey. Take this course as a very complete introduction to professional tattooing.

    And you have to bring your own discipline and love for tattooing to complete the practice. As I say all the time: if you want to become a good tattooer, you need to practice every day, live and breathe tattooing. ;-)
