My new skeleton obsession
Lately I have been completely obsessed drawing these cuties.
I am trained in anatomy drawing by my friend and amazing artist and drawing teacher G Caruso. But here is a little secret: I love so much realism-like drawings and practiced only that for a few years, that I find it super hard to “resume” my drawings and do them in a more minimal way.
This is why I admire so much cartoon illustrators. For me, it takes a huge effort to resume body shapes into a line or even into a more abstract surrealist creative way.
Throughout my creative life, I am always practicing simpler line drawings, to try to play around with the shape of things, not being too serious about them.
And that’s what this new skeleton flash series is about: just getting the pen and having fun with it! The process is very simple: I don’t start with a sketch; I just touch the blank paper with the tip of a pen, start sliding it and see where it takes me.
I hope you like them. With the world being the way it is, they are my little daily reminders that we have to just have fun from time to time to keep the spirit alive.
